How do Replacement Mattress sofa bed mattresses differ from the competition?

Every mattress is designed for quality, comfort, durability, and custom sizing. Two construction details make an especially important difference:

  • Solid foam core: Provides dependable support at a 4-inch depth and helps prevent the mattress from bottoming out.
  • Sewn tape edge: The cover is sewn in place for better durability through repeated folding and unfolding, rather than relying on a less durable zip-on cover.

How does foam density affect mattress quality?

Higher-quality foam generally remains comfortable and supportive for longer. Density is important, but it works together with several other specifications:

  • Density: The foam’s weight in pounds per cubic foot.
  • Indentation Force Deflection (IFD): The force required to indent the foam, which helps describe firmness.
  • Thickness: The available depth for cushioning and support.
  • Durability, flex fatigue, and compression set: Measures of how well the foam retains its comfort and shape over time.

What is the difference between a foam and spring sofa bed mattress?

Foam

Foam compresses and conforms in response to body weight, offering individualized pressure relief and strong motion isolation. It usually has a softer feel than an innerspring mattress.

Spring

Metal coils create more open space for airflow and typically produce a firmer, more responsive feel. Some sleepers prefer this extra firmness and ventilation.

Will I feel the bar through your sofa bed mattress?

It is very unlikely. Our sofa bed mattresses are designed to cushion the mechanism for the large majority of sleepers, but two factors are worth considering:

  • Sleeper weight: An extremely heavy sleeper may compress a mattress farther than the typical sleeper and reduce the cushioning above the bar.
