Here is why I did it.
I have two types of neck pain. One is from tension and involves the big muscles in the back of my neck. When there is stress in my life they tend to tense up. They hurt when I press on them or turn turn my head (So don't do that). They sometimes hurt enough that there is no relief, even using NSAIDs.
My other pain source is more serious. Arthritis. In this case, degenerative disc disease. Sometime its worse than others. Sometimes sleep becomes nearly impossible.
This pillow helps a lot.
Being in the business, I know why it works: It gives my head better support than regular pillows. That's critical. if my head is well supported, it's just "floating" there. Then there is no pressure on my neck. It may not remove my pain, but at least it does not ad any.
It works because it's memory foam. Any memory foam pillow will do the job, but memory foam has a built in curse .You sink in a more than on a regular pillow, and more of you gets supported.. The problem: More of your face is covered with foam and foam is a fantastic insulator. With an ordinary memory foam pillow, I'm too hot to sleep.
That's where this one comes in. Molded in channels dissipate heat. Does it dissipate all the heat? I wish it worked better, but its the best I have found, and its way better than no memory foam at all.
